The story of Hercules is written by the authors Ovid and Theocritus.. Hercules (who was also known as Heracles), was the son of Zeus and Alcmene, the wife of Amphitryon. As a father, Zeus had great hopes for his offspring. On the day of his birth, he announced to all the gods the arrival of a child to his kingdom who would become king. Hercules is the son of Zeus, king of the gods of Olympus, and Alcmena, a mortal woman who lived about three thousand years izing the need for a son who would be powerful enough to defend both the Olympian gods and humanity from future dangers he foresaw, Zeus seduced Alcmena in the guise of her husband, King Amphitryon of Troezen.
So Hercules was born a demi-god with stupefying strength and stamina, yet his life was far from easy. Hera, Zeus’ wife, knew he was an offspring of her husband and wanted to destroy him. Early on she sent two serpents to kill him, but baby Hercules strangled both of them. He was brought up at the course of his supposed-father Amphitryon. In the Book 8 of this epic poem, Virgil has the story of Cacus and Hercules told to Aeneas by Evander, who founded the city of Pallantium on the future site of Rome, prior to the Trojan War. Evander describes Cacus as a “foul-featured, half-human monster” who lived in “a cave which the rays of the Sun never reached.”Author: Dhwty.
Heracles cuffed him over the head, but he had been drinking and was so strong that he smashed the poor boy's brains in. Once again he was exiled for accidental manslaughter. Hercules, or known in Latin as Heracles, was the greatest of the Greek heroes, a paragon of masculinity. In art Hercules was portrayed as a powerful, muscular man wearing lion's skin and armed with a huge club. He was also described as being a macho man buffoon, who was very impulsive. Hercules’ home and birthing place is in Thebes, Greece.
